Dogs R Us Agility Club

Druac is a members only club, our competitions, training facilities and social events are accessible only to registered members who pay a nominal fee towards ongoing costs and upkeep of equipment.

Our member dogs are generally not 'show' or even specifically agility dogs but rather family pets ranging from Yorkshire Terriers through to a Burnese Mountain Dog!

Many of our dogs have been 'rescued' or rehomed and Druac and their handlers offer a life that could easily have been so different.

charity

As a not-for-profit club, any surplus funds raised by member or public contributions over the year are distributed to support (generally local) animal charity groups that have been nominated by our members at our AGM.

Whilst these figures may not be vast, many of the recipient organisations are themselves quite small and are very grateful for these donations.

responsible

Prior to being allowed to train, all members dogs are required to have a good level of obedience and ideally formal obedience traing to the standard and recognition of the Kennel Club good citizen award.

It is also a club requirement that all dogs are properly vacinated and that vacination records are available for confirmation.

fun

Whilst a number of members now attend external competitions, Druac's continuing aim is to be a fun club where the training is enjoyable and, obviously, safe for both the dogs and handlers.

As well as our normal training sessions we have a fun competition day in September where comittee members create new games based on an agility theme.

social

We also normally have a number of social events throughout the club year; generally a skittles evening, a bbq, an end-of-year social, and a Christmas party/meal.

We also hold a Christmas closing social for the dogs and again there are fun competitions (generally with some form of 'dressing up' or wearing of silly hats - handlers not neccessarily dogs). Additional previous events have included the relay style dog and handler race involving an apple dunk - and believe me, it's cold at that time of year!

Representatives of successfully nominated charity groups will be present to offer a few words of insight into their cause and to receive their donations from the club.
